Continuing Education for Clergy
Guidelines and grant applications are now available
New committee co-chairs announced
Bishop Jelinek has appointed the Reverends Aron Kramer and Rex McKee to co-chair the Clergy Continuing Education Committee. They assume leadership following the Reverend Lydia Huttar Brown, who chaired the committee for the past two years.
The Clergy Continuing Education Committee is charged with encouraging the ongoing professional and spiritual development of all active, ordained clergy in the Diocese of Minnesota. They do this primarily through the distribution of grant money to those who apply for assistance, and by providing continuing education opportunities through semi-annual clergy conferences. The committee is responsible for the program at the fall clergy conference, and assists the bishop with the execution of the program he chooses for the spring clergy conference.
In 2007, the committee expanded its focus to include underwriting diocesan training and learning opportunities for lay ministers as well as clergy. It also revised its grant application guidelines to be clearer and broader. The new guidelines are effective immediately, as of April 2008. The revised application and guidelines are available here or by contacting Aron or Rex. Applications will be reviewed at the next meeting of the committee, at spring clergy conference.
