Pints to the Environment: The tradition continues!

Discussions around the table: the Rev Tom Harries, Trish Allen-Unger, Paul Hanten, Tom Johnson, Peter Montgomery, the Rev Helen Hanten, Carol Morello, Ginny McBride

After Friday's banquet at the 150th Diocesan Convention, members and friends of the Minnesota Episcopal Environmental Stewardship Commission (MEESC) met at Great Waters Brewing Company for the Third Annual "Pints to the Environment" event. Those in attendance discussed the accolades for MEESC from Bishop Jelinek and the keynote speech by Garrison Keillor as well as topics pertaining to the environment (including ethanol, soy-diesel, drought, and the Bread of Life program) while sampling the brews and drinking Cokes and fruit juices.

A gathering of MEESC and its friends during Diocesan Convention was a project of special interest to the late Jerry Unger of St. Luke's, Rochester. Since his death in 2004, MEESC has met in Jerry's memory to continue the tradition of serious and fun discussions about environmental spirituality concerns in the Diocese of Minnesota and the Episcopal Church.

Look for announcements at the 151st Diocesan Convention for the location of the next Pints to the Environment event or visit the MEESC website (www.env-steward.com).
