"Partners with Apostles" plan house parties
Participants have opportunity to become part of the amazing Holy Apostles story
At the end of Matthew's Gospel Jesus left instructions with his followers to go and make disciples of all nations. By Easter of 2005 with the welcoming of over 300 Hmong parishioners, Holy Apostles Episcopal Church embraced Jesus' command. "The nations" came to St. Paul. Over the past two years, Father Bill Bulson, the priest at Holy Apostles, has baptized 150 new Hmong Christians, the Sunday School has grown tenfold, there are 20 teenagers preparing for confirmation, and the church is bursting at the seams!
Now the church is scrambling to keep up with the challenges and activities of a growing and revitalized ministry. The prayer book is being translated into Hmong, with many parts already done. Hmong members teach Sunday School, catechism, and translate sermons for family and friends. Teams of volunteers clean the church and care for the grounds. Father Bulson is kept very busy making rounds of Hmong extended family events (khi-tes) that require clergy prayer and blessing.
What is needed next at Holy Apostles is more structure, more effective use of in-house resources, more time for Father Bulson to attend to evangelistic and outreach work among his flock and beyond. The answer to these needs in the near term is another clergy person on staff, and that requires money that is not available within the largely immigrant congregation at present. This is where you can help.
House parties are being planned to invite Minnesota Episcopalians to hear the remarkable story of growth at Holy Apostles and to become a part of that story by considering a pledge to the "Partners with Apostles" capital appeal. For further information contact one of the Friends of Holy Apostles:
