Campus ministry looks to Fall with a new office and new worship space

As we have already announced, the UEC is on the move. The beautiful building that was built just 4 years ago, while wonderful, is just too expensive for a student-based ministry to support. We cannot afford to stay in the building and are making the difficult but only choice: to relocate. The Trustees of the Diocese of Minnesota are working with area leaders to lease the building but the ministry is on the move. And, the ministry is what we are focused on!! Keep reading…

Worship Space for 2007-2008
The UEC, in partnership with the young adults from the Church of Gethsemane, Minneapolis, will worship Sunday nights on the third floor of the University Branch YMCA, 1801 University Ave SE, Minneapolis. We gather every Sunday night at 5:00 pm during the school year for worship with students, young adults, and friends. A dinner will follow.

This is very exciting news, as the Y is a great location, close to the students, is very welcoming and ready for us to share the space next year. Our opening Eucharist for the school year will be on September 9 at 5:00 pm at the University Branch YMCA.

Deconsecration of chapel at 331 17th Ave SE
On Tuesday, July 24, the Rev. Canon Susan Moss and the Board of Trustees of the UEC will gather following the monthly board meeting for a prayer service to deconsecrate our chapel. We will no longer worship at this site, and are preparing to kickoff the new school year with our opening Eucharist on September 9.

Matching gift of $10,000
We have been given a great gift to start our fall ministry to the students at the U – and we hope you will help us double it!! A friend of the UEC has offered us $10,000 if we match the gift. We are already $3000 on our way – $7000 to go to assist in continuing this essential ministry to students at the University Episcopal Center. Thanks in advance for your generosity!!
