The finance department of the Episcopal Center serves two separate legal entities: the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota and the Trustees of the Diocese of Minnesota, Inc.

For the diocese, the finance department manages the diocesan operating budget, provides payroll and insurance services to congregations and individuals, and provides financial and audit support, expertise and counsel to the 105 episcopal congregations.

The finance department serves the trustees by providing all administrative and financial services. These include management of the Pooled Investment Fund (PIF) and real estate services related to all mission properties, which are legally owned by the trustees.

Principal Financial Officer

Jim Pavlik is responsible for all financial and accounting activities for both the diocese and the trustees. He provides financial support, expertise, and counsel to the bishop and his staff, diocesan council and its various committees, and the trustees of the diocese and their associated committees. He directs and supervises the staff of the finance department.

Jeff Langaard, MBA
Assistant Financial Officer

Jeff Langaard is responsible for the budgets, financial reports, audits, and all internal accounting processes/procedures for both the diocese and the trustees and associated committees. Jeff also oversees the finance department webpage.

Staff Accountant

Phil Bukstein is responsible for questions regarding health, dental, life, flex and short term disability (std) insurance.

Renee Carlson, Esq.
Legal Coordinator/Safe Church Coordinator

Renee Carlson is responsible for responding to and providing counsel to general legal questions regarding property, corporate, employment and canonical issues. She is the designated diocesan liaison to the Chancellors. She is a staff contact for matters relating to the Trustees of the Diocese of Minnesota, Incorporated, including real estate and loan matters. She coordinates and administers the diocesan Safe Church Program which includes policies and practices related to sexual misconduct prevention.
