The 2008 Department of Indian Work (DIW)/Minnesota Committee on Indian Work (MCIW) Convocation was held June 27-29 on the grounds and in the facilities of the historic Bishop Whipple Mission and St. Cornelia’s Church located on the Lower Sioux Indian Community near Morton, MN. The Department of Indian Work (DIW) is a ministry that was established within the Dakota (Sioux) and Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) communities before the Diocese was officially established. There are currently twelve mission congregations and two specialized ministries serving both on tribal lands and within the urban centers (Minneapolis/St Paul, Duluth) in Minnesota.

The clergy leadership of DIW consists of nine priests and three local permanent deacons who help implement the vision of American Indian ministries in the Diocese.

The Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota is the only diocese in the Episcopal Church that allocates a substantial portion of its annual budget to indigenous ministries.

The First Nations Kitchen, a ministry of All Saints, Minneapolis, began serving meals on All Saints Sunday, November 2. Dinners are served every Sunday and include traditional indigenous food that is wholesome, healthy, and organic.small

First Nations Kitchen is in need of several items of equipment. If possible, please plan to purchase one or more items from their equipment list.

The Kitchen is also looking for congregation partners who can help with the weekly needs of providing a meal and with structural and administrative needs, like marketing and communications.

If you are interested in discussing a parish partnership, contact either the Rev. Robert Two Bulls or the Rev. Devon Anderson.
