February

Summary of February 2, 2006 Meeting:

Discussed a memo on the budget for Diocesan Convention 2005. Heard an update on the work of the Metro Mission Strategy Commission. Heard a presentation from the Rev. Barbara Mraz on her program “SermonCraft.” Unanimously approved Resolution 2006-01, authorizing housing allowances for 2006 for diocesan-employed clergy. Unanimously approved Resolution 2006-02, authorizing the Bishop or Principal Financial Officer to execute the final lease agreement as agreed to between the Real Estate Committee and the Buyer of 1730 Clifton Place.  Heard an update on the Gethsemane Project from Gethsemane’s vicar, Aron Kramer

Summary of March 16, 2006 Meeting:

Heard a report from Jim Huber on the first phase of the work of the Metro Mission Strategy Commission Shared stories of “Where is God in your region?” Learned from the Budget Committee that it was planning a one-year budget for 2007 and would return to a triennial budget in 2008

Summary of May 4, 2006 Meeting:

Heard an update from Marilyn Clinton on evaluation process for Bishop Jelinek. Unanimously approved Resolution 2006-03 (attached), concerning a highway right of way on diocesan property in Mahnomen County. Discussed aspects of a strategic health plan for the diocese, both in small groups and as a body.

Summary of June 29, 2006 Meeting:

Reported reactions in regions to the “State of the Diocese” materials. Heard and discussed the reactions of Bishop Jelinek and others to the 2006 General Convention. Unanimously passed Resolution 2006-04, establishing an account at RBC Dain Rauscher for the transfer and liquidation to cash of a substantial stock donation to the diocese from an anonymous donor. Held preliminary discussion of the proposed 2007 Transitional Budget. Shared reflections from the May 20 Stakeholders’ Meeting.

July

Summary of July 27, 2006 Meeting:

Unanimously approved a one-year transitional diocesan budget for 2007. Unanimously passed Resolution 2006-05, calling on Council to encourage the work of the next triennial budget committee to take on expanded discussions via bishop and staff, regions, and other bodies with full ethnic representation, regarding best practices for how we will transform our common resources and equip local saints for ministry as we consider what funding will be initiated, continue, or cease. Shared news of “God in the Regions.” Learned that the diocese had received an unqualified or “clean” audit for the second year in a row. Heard an update on the Church of Gethsemane, Minneapolis, from Aron Kramer.

September

Summary of September 21, 2006 Meeting:

Heard updates from Bishop Jelinek on the affiliation of the Church of the Messiah, St. Paul, with the Anglican Communion Network and on Cass Lake Episcopal Camp. Heard a report from Bishop Jelinek on reactions from the Anglican Communion regarding the 2006 General Convention. Unanimously passed Resolution 2006-06, authorizing a Housing Allowance of $15,200 for the Rev. Robert Two Bulls for the remainder of 2006.

December

Summary of December 7, 2006 Meeting

Heard a report from the Development Committee. Received updates on various business before the Trustees of the Diocese. Unanimously passed Resolution 2006-07, approving housing allowances for diocesan employees who are clergy. Had a partial check-in on “where God is at work” in their regions. Had an initial conversation with representatives of the Millennium Development Goals Task Force. Discussed the draft of a Theological Position Paper on Mission from the Theology Action Team of the Bishop’s Commission on Mission Strategy.
