LeeAnne Watkins, GC09 deputy
LeeAnne is a self-described 'General Convention junkie' who is also the rector of St. Mary's, St. Paul, the mother of a pre-teenage boy, a
20+ year experienced youth minister, and a mentor to youth, young adults, and not-so-young adults throughout the Diocese of Minnesota.
Apart from her service as a deputy, LeeAnne has been assigned to the Standing Commission on Ministry and will be working with the Chicago Consultation to move The Episcopal Church toward full inclusion for all the baptized in all the sacraments.
Through these experiences, she has developed a wealth of relationships across the geographical and theological spectrum.
"I love the church; I love the way we discern what new things the Spirit is doing in our midst," explains LeeAnne. "A good deputation needs not only new deputies with fresh eyes but also experienced deputies who know how to navigate the complex legislative system, and have relationships with deputies from other places. Having served as a deputy in the past, I have the relationships and experience and know that I love the work of General Convention. This year, in particular, I look forward to mentoring new deputies in gratitude for those who mentored me."
